This was taken from some 2 kilometres away and as close as you would ever want to be to a mother and her young. Bear attacks on hikers and campers were endemic until the Park took on an intensive education program, reducing the attacks by 95%. However, we were all still a little nervous under canvas at night and all cooking equipment, clothing used during cooking, food, confectionary, wrappers and toiletry items had to be locked away separately at night.
